Hypodive in a rare acoustic performance

Hypodive

Hypodive

Hypodive is usually a four-piece band, but they recently appeared as an acoustic duo at NYC’s Hunter College, in support of their friend and fellow music maker Johnny Juarez, who was in New York for a stop on his Better Tour.

Hypodive got the crowd feeling great as singer JKLN and guitarist JV played several songs from their new release, “High Heel Hangover,” and their previous release, “Out of Control.” Dance rock is alive in NYC when Hypodive comes around– if you like Gwen Stefani (and No Doubt), I think you’ll appreciate Hypodive. (Side note: if Hypodive is your kind of music, check out Breakerbox, too.)

Hypodive has played several NYC staples, including The Gramercy Theatre, Le Poisson Rouge, The Knitting Factory Brooklyn, Arlene’s Grocery, Bowery Electric, and Piano’s.  As a four-piece, high-energy band, Hypodive also includes Leo Freire on drums and bassist Cody Darbe. See (and hear) for yourself what these talented peeps can do, musically, with these YouTube clips and songs from Soundcloud:

New York City is the place where people come to make their mark…in the city! Where else can you be who you were meant to be? To live a life where anything is possible, and everyday you see, hear and learn something new and interesting? New York City is unlike any other city in the world, with its one-of-a-kind essence– its dynamic spirit, its can-do attitude. New York City is a place brimming with energy and possibilities. With that in mind, MarkInTheCity.com exists to share the stories of people who’ve come to New York to make their mark!

In the comments section, tell your age (if you want), your hometown (where you’re from originally), how long you’ve been in NY, what you’re doing now to make some sort of living (or not), what you aspire to be doing in NY, where you like to hang out, what makes you unique/stand-out, and how people can contact you, if you want them to contact you. Basically, this site helps you “make your mark in the city!”

Your story might be chosen to spotlight on this site (no guarantees), so check back often to see if you make it on MarkInTheCity.com. And tell your NYC friends about this site– they’d probably like to let people know about their story, too.
